The Slama GmbH is a traditional, family-run company from Salzburg that has been established as a reliable partner for trade and industry since 1928. With the guiding principle “Serving the trade,” Slama has developed over five generations into one of the most significant wholesalers for tools, machinery, and sheet metal supplies—always with a clear focus on quality, service, and practical solutions for professional users.
The service portfolio ranges from general and specialized tools to state-of-the-art sheet metal processing machinery and a comprehensive range for sheet metal work. The offering is complemented by individual additional services that go far beyond traditional wholesale and position Slama as a true solution partner.
Another success factor is the efficient logistics: The majority of goods are delivered flexibly and reliably via the company’s own truck fleet. Alternatively, customers can pick up directly from the warehouse—quickly, conveniently, and as needed—with same-day or next-day delivery.
In this way, Slama combines decades of experience with modern infrastructure and high service orientation—and thus remains a strong partner for trade and industry in the future.
From Analog Warehouse to Digital Logistics Chain—How SLAMA Digitized Its Processes
Every morning began the same way: stacks of paper on desks, delivery notes on clipboards, handwritten notes from the warehouse. Warehouse management at SLAMA had grown over the years—functional, but increasingly reaching its limits. Postings were always made manually, inventory levels were not visible in real time, and much information existed twice: on paper and in the system.
The challenge was particularly evident in picking and shipping. The processes were labor-intensive and heavily dependent on the experience and attention of employees. The recording of warehouse movements was initially done by hand and was only transferred to the system with a delay (time deviation) of up to several days. During this period, the information was not available up-to-date in the digital system, which led to temporarily incorrect inventory levels and impaired transparency and planning reliability.
With increasing customer requirements, ever shorter delivery times, and continuously growing shipment volumes, it became clear: the existing processes could hardly meet the desired standards of efficiency, transparency, and reliability in the long term. To remain competitive in the future and reliably support further growth, the step toward a modern, integrated solution was unavoidable.
Transparency and Efficiency in Every Movement
Modern Digital Warehouse Management
In picking, mobile applications guide employees safely through the process—quickly, intuitively, and with maximum accuracy.
Another milestone was the introduction of the digital truck loading app. It ensures that the shipping process runs transparently, traceably, and error-free. All steps are seamlessly connected to the rs2 ERP system from Aptean—information is processed digitally throughout.
The entire process is rounded off and completed by intuitive route planning that is seamlessly linked to the loading app.
Centralized planning: From order to loading in the shortest possible time. Based on the information available from orders and delivery details regarding the respective unloading locations, loading is carried out systematically and in the optimal sequence. This ensures that goods can be delivered efficiently along the planned route without unnecessary detours. The interplay of digital planning and practical implementation ensures smooth operations, reduces sources of error, and increases the efficiency of the entire delivery.
