Implementation phase for new voestalpine Stahl GmbH R&D platform launched

ABF is currently developing a new, central platform for research and laboratory management for voestalpine Stahl GmbH. This pioneering project is named DIAManT (Data Information And Management Tool) and will serve as the digital foundation for all R&D activities within the Strip Business Unit.

Following a joint six-month conceptual phase characterized by intensive and constructive collaboration, the three-year project is now entering the implementation stage.

One platform for all R&D activities

The new laboratory management platform marks a significant step in the digital transformation of voestalpine Stahl GmbH’s research. All experimental, testing, and laboratory processes are being consolidated into a central software solution, making them transparently available to all departments. The new platform is intended to replace the previously partially list-based and manual processes with standardized, digital workflows. At the same time, a central database is being created that traceably links experimental data, sample information, material histories, and test results.

Around 180 employees are expected to work with the new system in the future. For the research department of voestalpine Stahl GmbH, the new platform offers decisive advantages:

  • Improved transparency regarding research and testing processes
  • Rapid access to experimental data and results
  • Seamless traceability of samples and material pieces
  • More efficient collaboration between specialist areas, laboratories, and external partners
  • Avoidance of duplicate entries and redundant tests
  • Long-term safeguarding of knowledge and research findings

OneBase®MES as the technological foundation

The new laboratory management software is being implemented based on OneBase®MES. ABF’s manufacturing execution platform provides the data foundation and core functions, and is being expanded with custom features for voestalpine Stahl GmbH. Users benefit from a modern user interface and a consistent system architecture.

We are delighted to support voestalpine Stahl GmbH as a technology partner in the digital transformation of their R&D processes and to work together to realize a high-performance platform for the research of tomorrow.
